Live in Pictures: Camden Rocks Festival

Camden Rocks took over the music venues of NW1 once again last weekend with explosive performances from a huge range of established and upcoming talent.  Joyzine photographer Rupert Hitchcox was there, roaming the streets of North West London, camera in hand, to capture these fantastic shots of the day.

Included amongst them are Britpop veterans Ash, who have just released a box set of their 7″ singles from 1994-2004.

Also caught by Rupert’s lens were high flying sci-fi art rock heroes Asylums whose second album Alien Human Emotions is out now on Cool Thing Records.

Long-term Joyzine favourites Saint Agnes released their debut LP Welcome to Silvertown earlier this year & they brought their Americana tinged rock & roll medicine show to the Camden Rocks stage.

Roadkill Records can generally be trusted to spot your new favourite band, and the packed out crowd for Projector‘s Camden Rocks show would suggest that they’ve struck gold again.  They released their How Does It Feel EP through the label last year.

Elsewhere in Camden Gaygirl were popping dreampop bubbles with shards of spiky post-punk such as can be heard on recent single ‘Sicknote’.

Down from Liverpool for the day Queen Zee are gearing up to take their power pop explosion to Glastonbury later in the year.

DIY grunge punks Healthy Junkies played North London institution The Dublin Castle, their new album Delirious Dream will be released later this year.

And rounding off our visual round-up of Camden Rocks are London rockers Arcane Militia who describe their sound as ‘aggressive love metal’.
