Single Review: Cat Power – You Get

I think I won the argument with my girlfriend about how to pronounce the unpretentious, classic and cool Cat Power – it should be CAT power, like black-power. Anyway, ‘You Get’ is a simple, jaunty yet relaxed number with lyrics that I surmise are motherly and critical of somebody. Almost threatening and wise. It’s characteristically sweet to the ear with bluesy reverbs and sonorous refrains. I look forward to the album.

‘You Get’ is taken from Cat Power’s latest album Wanderer, which is out now on Domino Records.
