Video of the Day: False Advertising – Honest

Combining the filthiest of fuzzed up guitars with shimmering power pop choruses, Mancunian trio False Advertising are our rose-tinted recollections of early nineties MTV made flesh (because it was wall to wall Nirvana, Weezer and Pavement back then, right?).

The band have just announced an extensive autumn UK tour and an accompanying EP I Would be So Much Happier If I Just Stopped Caring, which will only be available in cassette form from the live shows.  Today’s track ‘Honest’ is just one of the slacker pop treats contained within, and the accompanying video and its riffs on the band’s name is a joy in itself.

They’ve also taken part in an interesting new project aimed at supporting young people to use creative writing and music to talk openly, confidently and safely about what’s on their mind.  The Three Minute Heroes Project gives young people attending schools in Hull and East Yorkshire the opportunity to anonymously submit lyrics which are then given to bands to create an original song.  All 15 tracks, including False Advertising’s ‘It’s Been a While’ are available to download free from Bandcamp.
