Video of the Day: Six by Seven – Eat Junk Become Junk

Nottingham post-Britpop cult heroes Six By Seven provided the buzzing, angry soundtrack to my student years at the turn of the millennium.  Smashing together art punk, shoegaze and dark electronics, their second album, The Closer You Get, is one of the few records from that time that I still keep on regular rotation at Joyzine HQ, so you can imagine my elation on hearing that the LP, along with a second disc of their John Peel sessions and an accompanying best of album are set to be released by Beggars Arkive on 17th February.

The band have also reformed for two live shows – a home town gig at The Maze on 4th March, which sold out almost immediately and a London date at The Garage on the 11th.

From the album, we’ve chosen ‘Eat Junk Become Junk’ for our video offering today, a bare and scathing attack on consumer culture with a wonderfully barbed guitar line.
