The Joyzine Advent Calendar: Day 5 of Free Downloads from our Favourite Artists

We’re up to day five of the Joyzine Advent Calendar, hope you’ve been enjoying the free musical treats that we’ve been wrapping for you so far – you can still access all of the first four days of tracks by clicking their windows on the homepage.

The festive period is, amongst a myriad of other things, about bringing people together – hopefully through our little Advent offerings we’ve managed to pair you up with a band or two that might otherwise have escaped your notice; and today we’ve got a rather splendid Christmas collaboration for you.

beans-on-toast

Beans on Toast has been winning fans with his distinctive brand of charming, politically active and lyrically dextrous drunk-folk for almost a decade now.  A prolific writer, last week he released his eighth studio album in as many years in the form of A Spanner In The Works (out now on Xtra Mile Recordings), which sees Beans add a lo-fi electro slant to his well-loved three chord folk-punk sound.

Beans is currently in the midst of his annual UK winter tour, which rounds off with dates in Birmingham (6th December at The Hare & Hounds), Portsmouth (7th at The Wedgewood Rooms), Bristol (8th at Thekla) and Swansea (9th at The Garage) before climaxing with a ‘Big London Party’ at brand new venue Omeara on the 10th.  We’re promised a Beans show like no other with plenty of special guests and onstage collaborations.

Amongst the support acts for the night are Skinny Lister, who also had a new album The Devil, The Heart & The Fight out earlier this year.  Our track for today is a collaboration between the rambunctious party-folk sextet and Beans himself, titled ‘This Christmas’.
